The matches were hosted in seven different arenas in the lead-up to the final, at venues in Canada, Japan, Netherlands, France, the USA, and the Philippines.
History of the Volleyball Nations League
The concept for the Volleyball Nations League was launched in 2017 when the Federation Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB) announced that it was planning to shake up the way international tournaments were contested.
The following year, it announced that the Volleyball Nations League would replace the World Grand Prix and World League for both men and women.
Today, 16 teams compete in the Nations League, and Russia are the most successful nation, with two titles to their name, winning the 2018 and 2019 tournaments.
Brazil and France are the other two nations with a Nations League triumph, and fans watched closely to see which country rose to the top in Gdansk in 2023.

Format of the Volleyball Nations League
Sixteen teams compete in pools of eight during the Nations League. During the pool phase, every nation plays 12 matches, and the best eight teams will progress to the knockout stage.
The Nations League finals are competed via a direct elimination format.
