Major Fighters in UFC 305
Israel Adesanya
Adesanya suffered a shock defeat to Sean Strickland in September 2023, losing his middleweight title and failing to show his usual ability. He had an extremely impressive title rein, one of the best in the history of the division, defending the belt five times and winning it back once after initially losing to Alex Pereira. His incredibly fluid striking ability has earned him a lot of fans in the sport, and he has wins against many of the best fighters in the UFC. As our first UFC brand ambassador, you can learn more about Adesanya's history right here on Stake.

Dricus Du Plessis
Dricus Du Plessis has surprised many fans since arriving in the UFC. Despite having a style that lacks a lot of clean technique, he’s won all seven of his fights in the division and is now 21-2 in his pro MMA career. Impressive back-to-back wins over Till, Brunson, and Whittaker earned him a title shot, and he narrowly beat Sean Strickland by split decision. Now, the South African fighter has a chance to silence any remaining critics in his first middleweight title defense against his toughest opponent.
Steve Erceg
Erceg just lost in a close title fight against Alexandre Pantoja, and the Australian will be keen to earn another shot soon. This was his first ever loss in the UFC, and only the second in his professional career which has seen him record twelve wins. Many fans thought it was slightly too soon for Erceg to receive a shot at the title, but he put in an excellent performance and is now ranked ninth.
Kai Kara-France
Kai Kara-France is coming off two losses, most recently fighting Amir Albazi over a year ago. Many fans disagreed with the judges' decision, and feel Kara-France did enough to secure the last two rounds. Since then, he’s pulled out of a fight with Kape due to a concussion and has taken some time off to let his body heal.
Fight Card and Betting Odds
Main Event
Adensanya is the betting favorite in this matchup despite his performance in his last fight. The former champion has shown the ability to bounce back after a loss before, not letting his defeats to Alex Pereira and Jan Blachowicz dent his confidence. He has the ability to beat anyone in the division, and his opponent is definitely hittable.
The MMA odds are already out for this upcoming fight, and Dricus Du Plessis has opened up as the significant underdog. Although he had an impressive KO win over Whittaker, he only just managed to win the title from Sean Strickland in a very close fight. His brawling style may just play into Adesanya’s strengths.
Co-Main Event
Although this fight isn’t official yet, it has been rumoured by several Australian journalists. Steve Erceg is the lower-ranked fighter, but after a strong performance against the flyweight champion, he’s likely to be the favourite. He’s shown he has the skills needed to be a champion, and this could be a great opportunity to win another shot at the title.
Kai Kara-France was unlucky in his last fight and previously came up short in an interim title bout against Brandon Moreno. The number four ranked fighter will be hoping he can come back stronger after his layoff and return to winning ways. Despite the UFC odds showing him to be the underdog, he can never be counted out.
