When & Where is UFC 311?
UFC 311 is the first PPV event of 2025 and will take place on Saturday, January 19. The fights are being held at the Intuit Dome, Inglewood, California, USA.
Islam has a chance to equal the record for lightweight title defenses, currently held by his friend and training partner, Khabib Nurmagomedov. His last four fights have been impressive, with five performance bonuses won. Islam’s grappling has always been elite, but he’s also shown improved striking with his head kick KO over Alexander Volkanovski and an excellent display against Dustin Poirier.
Arman and Islam have met in the cage once before. At the time, both men were upcoming prospects, and Arman suffered his first loss in the UFC as they picked up a fight of the night bonus. Now, both fighters have clearly improved, but only one can be crowned champion of the lightweight division. Islam is our pick, and the MMA odds favor the Dagestani fighter too.
Merab Dvalishvili vs Umar Nurmagomedov
This bantamweight title fight is also an intriguing matchup between two of the best fighters in the world. Merab Dvalishvili only won the belt in his last fight, but he was on an incredibly impressive ten-fight win streak in the UFC before that. The current champion is well known for his high wrestling output and can shut down even the best strikers.
Umar is Khabib Nurmagomedov's cousin, and he’ll have the legendary lightweight fighter in his corner for this fight. He holds an 18-0 record, including 6 wins in the UFC. He’s been avoided by most of the big names in the division and only has one ranked win before this. However, he looked great against Cory Sandhagen, mixing high-level striking and grappling effortlessly.
Jiří Procházka vs Jamahal Hill
Both Hill and Procházka were stopped in their last fight against Alex Pereira, although Pereira has stopped most of his opponents. Procházka has an extremely unorthodox striking style, which has served him well so far, although it wasn’t enough for him to hold onto the belt. Now, he’ll have to work extra hard to get back into the title picture, but a win over Hill would definitely help.
Jamahal Hill has seemingly taken his loss to Pereira poorly, which makes sense, considering it ended an impressive run of four wins and four bonuses. If he wants another shot at the title, he has to beat Procházka, but he’ll have to work out that unorthodox style of his opponent.
